The group fought through the zombies and came across a series of strange orbs, but they seemed more like... essences of the base classical elements, plus some stranger ones, the group pockets them for later, they open up the next room after clearing a fair amount of undead, to a group of undead, dressed and walking differently from the previous undead, who were effective mindless slaves on order to mindless attack them as rabid dogs, these ones still seemed to retain their human cognitive thought. These sapient undead then unleashed a torrent of spells at the group, none of which actually hit them, but instead allowed them to disappear, and a horde of lesser minions appear in their wake. The team then cleared them out, and saw that room was a forge area, they also saw what appeared to be a strange box with question marks. At this point the voice spoke to them again, directing them to make their weapons, they did not force the group to make certain weapons. The weapons ultimately chosen are player chosen. After that, they make it to the next room, which the voice describes at the sanctuary, it has the sapient undead from before, as well as several masses of bodies that were.... reanimated incorrectly. The group uses their newly acquired weapons to mow through the lesser undead, one of the undead, in robes, exclaims that their lichdom is nearly obtained.

Surge Et Inmortuae is a Zombies map for Call of Duty: Zombies. The map is a remaster of Immortui by Firehammer/Slalad. The map takes place in an ancient roman arena where four political prisoners are about to be fed to the lions, but a cult led by a powerful Necromancer interrupts to attempt to kill the emperor, however he fails, and the spell he used corrupts the arena goers, and the lions with Prime Materia, making them into slavering mindless corpses. The voice then makes an offer, if they protect him then he will grant them freedom if he so chooses. You must kill the cultists and escape the arena.

Story

In the ancient years of the late 80s, four prisoners were being shipped to the arena for allegedly heinous crimes, they sat in the waiting arena of the arena, waiting to be called, each knew that they would die this day, or live to please the twisted pleasures of the crowds until they did. It came, their names were called, they were to fight the caged and starved lions. As they prepared for their inevitable ends....

An unknown cult begins to chant under the arena, as several cultists stand in an underground courtyard surrounding a black metal staff with elaborate patterns and a purple gem atop it, the cultists shot purple beams at it... it sent out a burst of purple light, killing the cultists, but soon, they rose, not as people per say, but walking corpses.

Meanwhile up in the arena, a purple light infects a large percentage of the crowds watching, as the gate was opening up, the group was hit by it, but like certain others, they were not killed, but instead began hearing a voice in their heads, trying to get in, they all managed to resist, and were knocked out. When they awoke, the arena was empty, the voice congratulated them, and told them that in order to escape the coming monsters, that they would have to help him. The Voice directed them to find a way under the arena, harness the elements, defeat the Cultist, and grab the emperor's body and get the hell out, oh and also there may be a small problem of a massive horde of undead who may want to consume their flesh. The group protested but saw no other choice, they broke through a side door and found a series of bricked tunnels leading underground, also where the zombies were coming from.
